On an Anzac Day like no other, the Australian and New Zealand music community will join together to pay its respects and celebrate the mateship between two great neighbouring nations. While recognising and acknowledging the Anzac message, we also turn our attention to those that are currently fighting on the COVID-19 front line and say, ‘thank you’.
Music From The Home Front sees Australian and New Zealand musicians uniting for an extraordinary special concert event on Anzac Day evening, screening on Nine in Australia and Three in New Zealand.
Live streaming direct from their safe locations to yours, Australia and New Zealand’s most revered artists will come together to commemorate the spirit that binds us all together on this special Saturday night.
FEATURING IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER
As the chief songwriter in 90s alt-rock group Noise Addict, BEN LEE caught the attention of Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and The Beastie Boys’ Mike D before launching his solo career with the anthemic ‘Cigarettes Will Kill You’ in 1998. Across more than two decades and eleven solo studio albums, the multiple ARIA Award winner and prolific songwriter continues to entertain and inspire fans the world over with songs like ‘We’re All In This Together’, ‘Catch My Disease’ and ‘Rise Up’.
BIRDS OF TOKYO have grown from independent roots to become one of Australia’s most popular rock bands. IAN MOSS is revered as one the country’s greatest guitarists and, both as part of Cold Chisel and in his solo career, has written songs that are engrained in and reflective of Australia’s rich cultural history. Last summer, Mossy celebrated the 30th anniversary of his iconic debut album Matchbook by taking it on the road for a six-week run of shows across Australia. Mossy collected an impressive five gongs at the 1990 ARIA Awards for Matchbook and its lead single ‘Tucker’s Daughter’, and was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame as a member of Cold Chisel in 1993.
JIMMY BARNES is the heart and soul of Australian rock’n’roll. He has been inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame twice, sold over 13 million albums, scored 16 #1 albums on the ARIA Charts, a feat that not even The Beatles have achieved.
