AN ANZAC DAY CONCERT FOR THE FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19

On an Anzac Day like no other, the Australian and New Zealand music community will join together to pay its respects and celebrate the mateship between two great neighbouring nations. While recognising and acknowledging the Anzac message, we also turn our attention to those that are currently fighting on the COVID-19 front line and say, ‘thank you’.

Music From The Home Front sees Australian and New Zealand musicians uniting for an extraordinary special concert event on Anzac Day evening, screening on Nine in Australia and Three in New Zealand.

Live streaming direct from their safe locations to yours, Australia and New Zealand’s most revered artists will come together to commemorate the spirit that binds us all together on this special Saturday night.

Amy & George Sheppard

AMY & GEORGE SHEPPARD are the unstoppable siblings, along with sister Emma, who are founding members of adored indie pop five-piece Sheppard. As the main songwriter and frontman of Men at Work, COLIN HAY is responsible for a masterful collection of music – including Australia’s unofficial national anthem of course, ‘Down Under’. Hay (born in Scotland, the singer moving here in 1967) formed his band Men at Work back in 1979, the group defining the sound of the era before their eventual split in 1986. Now sitting in the unprecedented place of having both ’80s fame and indie credibility across the globe thanks to his rich solo output, Hay’s latest listen is 2017’s Fierce Mercy, recorded in LA with a team of top-notch Nashville talents. Ringo Starr just recorded a Colin penned song “What’s My Name” for his latest release. Colin recently received the Distinguished Services Award from APRA/AMCOS and will have a yet to be titled new album out later this year.

Melbourne-based singer-songwriter COURTNEY BARNETT’s garage rock-infused folk-pop style has made her both a critical and cult success around the world, with six ARIA Awards, APRA Songwriter of the Year Award, two AIR Awards and a ‘Best New Artist’ Grammy nomination under her belt. Courtney’s debut album Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit (‘Pedestrian at Best’, ‘Depreston’) and its follow-up Tell Me How You Really Feel (‘Nameless, Faceless’, ‘Need A Little Time’) have both received widespread acclaim both in Australia and internationally.

The Sydney trio are set for another smash hit with the release of album #3 The Glow, due out 10 July via I OH YOU. DMA’S scored their second Platinum single with their much-loved cover of Cher’s ‘Believe’, which quickly became triple j’s highest charting ‘Like A Version’ cover of all time. Emma Donovan

EMMA DONOVAN is an acclaimed Indigenous Australian singer and songwriter best known for her work with soul bands, The Putbacks and The Black Arm Band project. She has also toured and recorded with Archie Roach and Ruby Hunter, Spinifex Gum, Christine Anu, Yothu Yindi, Jimmy Little and Paul Kelly among others. On her mother’s side, Emma is part of the famed Donovan family of singers of the Gumbaynggirr people, of what is now known as Northern New South Wales. On her father’s side, Emma is of the Yamatji people, of what is now known as Western Australia.

A founding member of the legendary Australian rock band Goanna (‘Solid Rock’, ‘Razor’s Edge’), SHANE HOWARD has played for Prime Ministers, Aboriginal Elders and environmental campaigners, from concert halls to protest sites and remote campfires. He has been a guest artist for Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Carole King, among others. In 2000, Howard was awarded a Fellowship by the Australia Council for the Arts in recognition of his contribution to Australian musical life - a contribution showcased in songs like ‘Don’t Give Up On Us’, ‘Come Down Moses’ and ‘Back In Time’.

The past twelve months have proven to be the band’s most jam-packed yet, seeing them travel across the globe for headline shows, rock the Splendour In The Grass main stage, perform and release their MTV Unplugged Live In Melbourne album, launch their Chucka Buckas initiative and bunker down to write new music. The first taste of their new tunes came earlier this week in the form of ‘Heavy Weather’, a track positively bursting with colossal hooks.

TIM MINCHIN is an acclaimed songwriter, comedian, pianist, actor, composer, and writer. His musical comedy has toured across the globe, garnering critical acclaim including five Helpmann Awards and awards from Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Edinburgh Fringe. Minchin’s contributions to theatre include writing the music and lyrics for the critically-acclaimed musical adaptation of Matilda, which won seven Olivier Awards and five Tony Awards. Minchin then set to work on a musical adaptation of Groundhog Day, which received an Olivier Award for Best New Musical. Earlier this year, Minchin was awarded the Order of Australia. Tim is currently producing and starring in a new eight-part FOXTEL TV series called Upright.

After what was categorically a phenomenal 2019 for TONES AND I, the Aussie artist has kicked yet another massive goal this year with her global hit song, ‘Dance Monkey’. The songwriter's 2019-released song, which spent 24 weeks at the top of the ARIA charts, hit #1 in over 30 countries, is 10x platinum in Australia, triple platinum in the UK, double platinum in USA, is now the most streamed song ever by a female artist on Spotify. Having ticked over 7 billion streams across all streaming platforms, ‘Dance Monkey’ has had over 1 million iTunes downloads, over 300 million streams on Apple Music, reached over 1.4 billion streams on Spotify, plus Tones And I has recently surpassed over 3 million subscribers on YouTube as well as having over 1 billion views on all of her YouTube videos – unheard of for an artist this young in to their career. Tones was the most nominated artist at the 2019 ARIA Awards, taking home four of her eight nominations, and is up for four awards at the 2020 APRAs. William Barton

WILLIAM BARTON is a composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, widely recognised as one of Australia's leading didgeridoo players and composers. For two decades, Barton has forged a peerless profile as a performer and composer in the classical musical world. Barton was the 2018 recipient of Best Original Score for a Mainstage Production at the Sydney Theatre Awards and received the 2012 ARIA Award for Best Classical Album. With his prodigious musicality and the quiet conviction of his Kalkadunga heritage, he has vastly expanded the horizons of the didgeridoo — and the culture and landscape that it represents.
